"Sometimes a portrait is more than just the face!" Absolutely. The detail work is nicely done, the shading is atmospheric--the gloom pervasive. The writer is instantly recognizable. I enjoy seeing Mr. Poe at his craft. Here, he appears to have been interrupted, startled, or struck by the thought of a thought. Fine pencil shading, which I take to be either 5 or 6B leads for the darker shades, or both, with highlights where one would expect. Like all of your other work, so very interesting and intriguing.
